17th June – 25th June
Vernon Park Art Gallery
A collaborative photography project spanning the generations is now being showcased in Vernon Park Art Gallery. Pure Art Studio has been working with Cheadle Hulme High School(CHHS), Care UK and Borough Care. Together they’ve created artwork based around ‘Memory.’
Everyone involved reunited at the gallery on Monday to see their artwork exhibited. With family, friends and colleagues they celebrated this innovative project and the bonds it has created between them.
In addition to the finished artworks there is also a slideshow in the projection room detailing the creation processes.
This free exhibition continues in the gallery until Tuesday June 25th.
Each work is a collaboration. A student from CHHS paired up with either a elderly resident or a Pure artist. In their pairs they discussed questions such as… “What is your earliest memory? Do you have a favourite memory? Which memory makes you smile? Which memory still makes you laugh?” They then worked together to take these ideas and put them into visual form using photography.
At the reunion open event CHHS students presented a cheque for £300 to the Life Story Network – an organisation that promotes sharing memories to improve the lives and wellbeing of people with dementia and their carers nationally.
The students also gave a framed piece of their artwork to their partners in the project, a lovely gesture to complete a fantastic project!
We’d love you to visit this brilliant exhibition. You will find the gallery downstairs at Vernon Park Café. Don’t leave it too long as it ends on Tuesday June 25th.
If you take photos and you can post them on social media using the hashtag #MemoryProject
Congratulations to Pure artists Rob, Simon and Sara who took part in the project. Great work!
